A sling for Christmas

So our little guy broke his arm at a tricky place, the round bit at the end of the bone to be precise.

It was a freak accident. One of those things that could happen a million times and never result in a break. But this time it did.

He was kneeling up on a chair at the kitchen sink playing with his toy cars. He must have just reached a little too far and fallen.

The only possible explanation is that he landed right on the elbow.

Anyway, overnight on that night when be broke it the piece magically slipped back into the correct position. It's the miracle that is the human body at work I suppose.

Anyway, the x-rays that morning confirmed that as of that point in time he wouldn't need the operation that the doctors were all sure he would need based on how it looked when he arrived at the hospital.

So, he's home now and we're mighty relieved.

He has to have another x-ray this week to see if everything is still in the right place. Until then my wife and I have to do all we can to keep him from moving about too much.

This is not easy. He's 4 and a bit years old, it's a couple of weeks before Christmas and he is very excited about this time of year. So me asking him to sit still on the sofa is a tall order.

In any event, we're so relieved that he doesn't need an operation so the effort involved in trying to keep a wriggling excited little boy calm is nothing really.

Thanks for the kind messages you posted. It means a lot.
