It's hard to find good chicken

lots of people speculate about the varying degrees of quality of chicken.

Free range versus battery.

Corn-fed versus god-knows-what.

I agree that chicken should be free from junk before it is served to people like you and me.

So I was amused to see a van pass me on the motorway a couple of weekends ago. The van was from a chicken producing business and on the side was written

SUPPLIER OF THE FINEST POLUTRY

So, either they are telling us something about the quality of the chicken or they need to switch to a new signwriter.

That's hysterical. Supplying them with what, exactly?

I try to stay away from meat and dairy that's been fed any kind of growth hormone or antibiotic - those things are scary. Of course, that means I have to buy organic, which is way expensive. Maybe I'll just start raising my own chickens when I get to Santa Cruz. I bet my landlord would love that.

There's a KFC across the street from me. Never been there, but on a hot summer day it's all you can smell.

I guess my take home message is, KFC is the opposite of what you want.
